FORCES OF RECOLLECTION

ARTISTIC INSPIRATION

Taking inspiration from temporary art installations in Cornell University's Johnson Museum of Art, I was inspired by themes of the storytelling power of textiles, especially relating to themes of family and grief.

The dynamic silhouette I chose to emulate is represented by the technical flats provided. Manipulating juxtaposing fabric weights, from denim to chiffon, highlights the distorted perfection of memories as they are passed, shared, and inevitably changed over centuries.

The fabric was sourced sustainably. The denim top is constructed from second-hand jeans acquired from the Salvation Army and the shirt is constructed from curtains discards from previously curated exhibits on campus.
